Minimally Invasive and Robot-Assisted Surgical Techniques
We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and complex cancer procedures. In fact, surgical oncologists at Baylor Scott & White are forerunners in developing a number of new minimally invasive techniques including:
Posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy (PRA) and robot-assisted posterior retroperitoneo scopic adrenalectomy (RAPRA)
These two new adrenal gland tumor procedures result in less pain and blood loss and faster recovery times for patients. We used the da Vinci® Surgical System in 2009 to perform the first reported RAPRA.
Single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) through the navel
This minimally invasive approach is an evolution of the laparoscopic surgical technique.
Many procedures can now be performed through a single incision hidden within the patient’s belly button.
