At Baylor Scott & White Health, the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team includes speech-language pathologists, also called speech therapists, who assess, diagnose and treat disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing and fluency.

  • Clinical and bedside swallow evaluation
  • Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS)
  • Fiber-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
  • Treatments for dysphagia targeting the strengthening of muscles involved in swallowing as well as diet modification/compensatory strategies
  • Treatments targeting components of cognition, including memory, reasoning, problem solving and executive function
  • Treatments targeting speech and language disorders, including aphasia, dysarthria and apraxia of speech
