This rotation, available in selected months, emphasizes clinical care and patient contact, as well as fundamentals in gynecologic oncology surgery. Students participate in the evaluation and management of gynecologic oncology patients in a private office setting, in the outpatient clinic and in the hospital.
An upper-level resident and a faculty gynecologic oncologist supervise each student. Students participate in surgical procedures and perform morning and evening rounds. They also take part in an outpatient oncology clinic with an upper-level resident and perform weekend morning rounds with a resident and attending physician. Night call is optional.
